Hytera BP515 LF PMR446 Two Way Radio

Hytera BP515LF is a licence free two way radio - also known as PMR446 here in the UK. This is a two way radio designed for everyday business use and has an analogue or DMR digital mode. This is a 'tier 1' radio and is compatible with similar units. Operation is at UHF frequency. It's analogue and digital operation.

The main handset is IP54 standards and it will resist water and scratches - but it is NOT submersible in water. However it will reduce the ingress of dust and water droplets  when in use under 'normal' business environments.

In the DMR mode the audio is particularly clear and is preferred than when being used in analogue mode. Analogue is most often used for moving from analogue systems to DMR systems so this feature is far from redundant.

The typical audio output power is 1 Watt, but do bear in mind that the handset is thinner than many other devices where higher audio output can be found. So for really noisy environments the DMR mode is probably a better operational choice.

As a license free 2 way radio the transmit power is limited in the UK to just 0.5 Watt output. While this might be fine for many uses, do bear in mind that licensed radios offer up to 5 watts of power, but then you need the license to operate those. This BP515LF is substantially less hassle to use and almost like a walkie talkie.

Battery life is Hytera typical on average between 17 and 18 hours of use when using the optional 2200mAh battery and less for the supplied 1500 mAh battery.
