Kenwood TK-3501 Two Way Radio

The Kenwood TK-3501 Protalk two way radio that is licence free (PMR446) and available as an UHF FM transceiver. The TK-3501 is an analogue radio, is simple to use, is lightweight and is designed to withstand knocks and is water and dust resistant.

As a ready to use radio, everything is included in the box, the transceiver, a battery, a battery charger, antenna and even a belt clip so there is no need to buy anything else to operate the radio. The battery is Li-Ion type 1130mAh that can keep the radio operational for up to 20 hours or thereabouts when the handsets battery saver feature is operational. Obviously, with the battery saver feature turned off you get a shorter battery life! There are 16 channels available plus the PMR446 frequencies of which there are eight.

Importantly, the two way radio is designed with protection IP54 for water and dust intrusion standards and MIL-STD 810 C, D, E,  F and G standards which makes the device very robust.

There is a very wide talk range of as far as 9km range and on the reception side of things the receiver is optimised specifically for a high performance stationary antenna. So that 9km range is achievable in most circumstances.

The TK-3501 is about 25mm (1 inch) thick and is small enough for pocket or worn on a belt with the included belt clip. Actual size is: (WxHxD) 54x117x25.5mm and the device weighs just 210g.

Audio is another benefit on this radio - its loud output at 1.5 Watts with a BTL audio amplifier won't fail to be heard even in noisy areas.
